from appleinsider:
"Thousands" of videos will go live when the update appears in mid-June, but continuing work will see the entire YouTube catalog in Apple TV form sometime during the fall.
Now all we need is youtube specific entertainment and since the apple tv is the most convenient, efficient way to watch these programs that otherwise must be viewed hunched over a laptop (or with intermittent blue screens on a windows media pc) the apple tv is the natural choice to watch this great programming.

What great programming? why would big studios or anyone else invest in this? Because the apple tv is beautifully aligned with rich families with disposable income, a target group that i imagine any advertiser would love to have access to. and therefore a studio would love to give those advertisers a vessel by which to influence us (er them, the apple tv owners.)

That Ok Go video is entertainment. I've never seen that before.

The latest hero in my exclusive TaxableAllocation! series is The Reverend Horton Heat. If you know me, chances are good that you know this already. Perhaps you attended a Rev show with me. Perhaps you carried me out of a Reverend show after I was no longer able to stand. Regardless what I have to say, this guy is rock, country, blues, swing, bluegrass, and a bit of sass. He's payed his dues as a guitar man -- here pictured playing with Screamin' Jay Hawkin's mid 80s -- and has got the skills to show from it. I did get a chance to shake his hand and tell him that he was my Guitar Hero. He humbly thanked me and mentioned that it had been a good career for him, despite what his parents had to say about it.

Blogger Dan said,

Wait a minute! I carried you out of a Rev show when you weren't able to stand anymore.

I think he was about 3 songs into his set.

Blogger Eric said,

Yeah, I remember not remembering that! I woke up on your couch with one leg of my jeans torn from cuff to knee...

i went to church! it was alright. the priest told this joke during the homily:

So the holy trinity is making vacation plans, and god goes first:

"you know, i think i'd like to go back to Mt. Sinia, i had some good memories of that place - what with the moses and commandments..."

then jesus: "i'd like to go to Jerusalem, i had some good times with those apostles, i'd be fun to reminisce"

and finally the holy spirit: "hmmm..... i'd like to go to rome, i've never been there"

i thought that was pretty awesome of a roman catholic priest.

You know what... al gore better run for president.

Blogger Eric said,

3 reasons, please.

Blogger Dan said,

Thanks for indulging me. 3 Reasons huh?

(1) Hillary Clinton

(2) Barack Obama

(3) Mitt Romney

Doug Stanhope for president.

Blogger MattT said,

I like McCain. He's old and grouchy.
The only problem is, he might die before 2012.

Blogger MattT said,

Well, maybe not the only problem.

Blogger Eric said,

Yeah, McCain is like 70 years old(?). I trust him more than the other Republican nominees. Guliani should run for president of 9/11.

Blogger Paul said,

mccain is in better health then most of our current administration.

i think for one of chaney's surgeries they implanted a mini mccain to keep him going. but cheney's evil spread to the mini mccain, and then to the real mccain - and that's why mccain's been all 'pandering to his base" and "there is no president but bush".

i'd love to see mccain make it - it'd be a tough decision if he did.

Blogger MattT said,

McCain just has to play party lines so he has a chance of getting the Republican nomination. I'd love to see him run as an independent though. I think he'd have a really good shot to be the first independent to win if he can get the financial backing.

Blogger MattT said,

He's half democrat anyway.

Blogger Eric said,

As much as I would like to see it, I don't think a moderate has much of a chance in this political atmosphere. It seems that any stance a moderate could take would be co-opted for the left or right extreme or criticized for not being a strong position.

When it comes to politics, the only thing in the middle of the road are two lines and dead armadillos...

Blogger MattT said,

You might be right. Unfortunately, I think a majority of US citizens are exactly that--moderate. Capitalism ruins democracy.

Blogger Paul said,

primaries ruin democracy.

Paul's Civil War post got me thinking about war. More specifically the concept of Total War. Here is our friend Daffy Duck in a classic propaganda piece that was used to encourage Americans to contribute in the Total War effort.

Blogger Dan said,

Thats a really great clip. Stupid south.

Blogger Eric said,

I love this clip. It shows how much of an impact Sherman's March to the Sea made in the war. I guess once one side declares "total war" the war is likely to end sooner.

I want keep tabs on what all ya'll are learning (i know that is 2, maybe 3 people). What blogs are you into, what sites are are you jewels?

My most interesting are we make money not art and indexed .

as for podcasts, i'm all LSAT logic in everyday life and this American life.

are there any automated ways for us to share rss feeds? like if google reader had a drop down that said "your friends feeds"

Blogger Dan said,

Google reader lets you mark items to share.

I'm always stealing fun links from Kottke.org and Waxy.org for recreant.com.

Never Not Funny always has been and always will be my favorite podcast. The sound of Young America and Jordan Jesse Go! are also good.

And for some reason every week i get very excited to see theres a new Mark Kermode film review podcast online.

Blogger Paul said,

reader lets you share with whom? and how do you see what someone is sharing?

1. PTWSTSTS: News for People Who Hate News
...usually pretty funny and with a name like that, how can you not give it a chance?

2. Renee's Shoreline
...my friend Pat does this. It's pretty damn random (the blog is named after his fiancee's "porn name"), but worth checking out for all of the grammatical and spelling mistakes and to watch that Fionn Regan video link from YouTube.
