I'm gonna keep an update on the delicious beers I've been drinking lately. Tonight I had the pleasure of consuming:

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

Delicious, smooth stout, especially for 10.6% ABV(!?)

Three Floyds Alpha King

This was to take care of my pale ale/hops fix, which I've been big on lately. Did the job for sure.

Unibroue Maudite

Maudite is French or Canadian or something for "the damned one". It's kind of a misnomer. Granted, it's high on the ABV, but this stuff still tastes delicious. Nice and floral and tight, it's what I used as a complement to my dessert. Definitely did the trick.

Goose Island Demolition

Once I got home, I surveyed my fridge and grabbed something on the lighter side. What I ended up with was a Goose Island Demolition Ale. It's got a golden color, but a bit of a flat/grassy finish taste wise. Not bad but not exceptional.

Leffe Blonde

Now I'm wrapping the night up with a nice light Belgian blonde ale that's not too complex but seems to hit the sweet spots on the tongue. I bought a six pack of this a few weeks ago and am still surprised to find bottles in my fridge. Not a bad thing.

OK, time to wrap this up and hit the sack. Tomorrow night I have a bachelor party so I'm sure it will be full of overpriced domestics. Stayed tuned until the next time.

This is a damn Hot calculator from Industrial Facility (sorry for the flash site). It was in the ID new and notable issue that i got today. Oddly, it can also connect to a computer for usb - useful for those spreadsheet sessions on the beach with your lappy.

Eric said,

Do you have a calculator watch? If you don't, you should ask santa for one.

Paul said,

I had one. Alas, the cool, metal old ones are like $100 on ebay.

i wish someone would make a cool, new one, like one of those bright colored plastic bracelet type watches. it could have little buttons on top, and red led's right under the skin of the plastic.

Like this, with buttons, and less nike

Eric said,

I used to have one that was a calculator watch AND a transformer. I thought it was the coolest. It looked kinda like this, but with a calculator on the torso.

Dethklok of Adultswim's Metalocalypse is coming to the University of Minnesota to perform live! At first I was puzzled, "How can animated characters tour and play a live show?" The answer: They can't. But some dudes can play their music anyways. Regardless, I'm going cuz it's free and the headliner is Trail of Dead. Brutal...

Recently, the Foo Fighters performed at the "VMA Fantasy Suite" (whatever that is) and played a Dead Kennedys cover with System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian. The result was outstanding. The Foo Fighters rock out hard and Serj nails the vocals perfectly. I always thought he had drawn some of his vocal inspiration from Jello Biafra, so I was incredibly excited to see this (thanks to Kelly K). One lyric change: the nefarious "N" word has been substituted with "brothas." I think that was definitely a smart move.

Foo Fighters live with Serj

Dead Kennedys performing Holiday In Cambodia live in 1982

This was awesome, but it would have been cool to see them cover "MTV Get Off the Air" or "Pull My Strings" for the "VMA Fantasy Suite" crowd.

The Amadana LC 104 could fill the hole the ET66 created, AND it looks like it's still being produced. You can buy it for me here. The site wasn't super easy to use (kept asking me for a password), but it looks like for about $85 (shipped) and an email to resolve the site login thing, you could make a Paul happy.

Their site says this guy's available at the MOMA store, but i couldn't find it online. Otherwise, it looks like Japan is the best place to get it.

I'm pretty bored, so here are a few other things i'm doing:

Getting into Quicksiver. It's a pretty awesome way of accomplishing file related tasks for the mac. I was able to just click on that Colbert .mp3 file on my desktop and then push a few keys and quicksilver threw the file onto this site.

Also, I'm Lovin' the new album, Curses, from "Future of the Left". The song Manchasm starts off with "Mark Foley was right - there are no ghosts in this town..." which has infected my skull.

p.s. I was saddened to see that Wikipedia defined Future of the Left as "alternative rock supergroup."

I've been listening to the audiobook version of I AM AMERICA! (AND SO CAN YOU!), i can only assume it's always supposed to be yelled. In the chapter about old people there is a hidden message in the form of a reversed snippet of speech. I used it as an excuse to play with audacity.

I really wanted to make this autoplay, but decided against it. for the children.

Eric said,

Paul said,

Ii was unable to use the internets to ascertain who said this. But after some help someone said "I think w.c. fields said it." upon which a search told me that Mark Twain in fact said it. And that was apparently cause people thought he was dead.

However, all this new knowledge has done little to explain why you wrote this.

Eric said,

oops. The correct quote I should have written is"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Paul McCartney said this after people claimed to hear "Paul is dead" when playing a Beatles record backwards.
